  • Where is your Board & Train facility located?
We are located in Chandivali (Powai), Mumbai.
  • What does “Board & Train” mean?
“Board & Train” means that a dog is trained by our team of trainers while being boarded ie. staying with us at our training facility. The duration of the stay is dependent on the duration of the training programme; we offer 2 to 8 week programmes depending on the severity of the behaviour problem and dogs age (read about our training programmes here). The dog goes home once the programme is completed and the transfer of training to the owners is completed.
  • Can I keep my dog while I am travelling for a short period?
We are strictly a training centre, and we do not offer ONLY boarding services. Boarding is available for previous graduates. However, you can definitely coincide your travel with your dog's Board & Train programme, provided you are back for the Mid Programme Sessions in the last week
  • How can I enrol my dog at your training centre?
Please go through our "Board & Train" under the services in detail to understand how the enrollment process works.
  • Can I come and visit your facility, to meet and play with the dogs?
We do not allow any physical interaction of client dogs with strangers or other dogs for safety of both dog and human.
  • How quickly can I get an appointment for a Consultation?
We are grateful to work with a high-volume of enquiries. With our specialised, hands-on, one-on-one training approach, we intake only a limited number of dogs at a time, as it enables us to fully devote quality time and attention to address each dog's training needs. Kindly be patient with us, we try our best to give you the earliest appointment available
  • Why is the Consultation necessary?
Before being enrolled for any kind of training programme, each dog must come for a Consultation. The main purpose of the in person consultation is to get a clear picture of the dogs personality and its environment in order to provide a proper diagnosis and programme. The consultation lasts 1.5 hours. Mitali & team will meet your dog, understand the problem areas, undesired behaviours and the root cause of them. The team will then discuss training goals for the dog(s) and give a realistic plan of action to achieve said goals. This may include (but not limited to) a Board & Train programme and/or training tips, changes in routine etc. that will help understand the dog better and achieve results. Lastly, if needed, the Team will recommend a suitable training programme for a dog (we offer 2 to 8 week training programmes) at MBT.
  • Where can I book a Consultation?
You can fill out our Contact Form or send across an email to enquiries.mbt@gmail.com. Please be patient with us, as we try to help as many dogs as possible.
  • How does a Board & Train programme differ from home sessions?
Board & Train programmes are a faster and economical solution to behavioural problems. They also work as a reset for the dogs mindset and dog owner relationship to start fresh. It also offer exposure to the dogs and and our trainers can introduce dogs to different stimuli in the right manner. We help you set the right foundation to then build upon
  • What is the cost of this training programme?
The cost differs from dog-to-dog, depending on the duration of the programme. Our basic programme starts at INR 35000.
  • Can I be assured that my dog’s behaviour will be fixed by the end of the programme?
There are so many variables involved in the success of a training programme; this includes commitment, consistency and following through, where you’re actively working towards your goals everyday! We are extremely lucky to have worked with some of the most dedicated, determined pet owners, therefore we regularly see beautiful, life-changing transformation. However we do realise that we are working with animals and hence do not offer any guarantees. Our combined efforts (MBT + you) begins and continues on even after the programme is over. Helping you work towards your goal!
  • Will my dog feel abandoned? I have never left him/her alone!
We completely understand your sentiment! It is absolutely normal to feel like that when leaving your dog. in our experience dogs go through an initial adjustment period to set into a new environment, new rules and a new routine. During this they are mentally and physically preoccupied with learning new behaviours and investigating new stimuli during their stay, which keeps them busy and positively productive. Moreover, we do not encourage saying goodbyes, and frequent visits as it might set back training and increase unhealthy anxiety.
  • My dog has severe behavioural issues; I need to quickly send him/her to your facility! How quickly can I send him/her?
While we understand, it is important we follow through the whole process (Consultation → Board & Train programme). Since we can only take a limited number of dogs, especially with the types of cases we get, we cannot take in any dogs on an immediate basis. Plus, if your dog has any severe behavioural issues, you have to implement some training at home (to be discussed at the consultation) before you bring your to the facility for the programme.
  • Do you provide food during the training programme?
All our training programmes are inclusive of food; we use fresh cooked food and kibble. If your dog has any allergies/intolerances/dietary restrictions that we can accommodate we surely will. However if they are on a prescription diet for medical reasons, you will have to bring the food for the duration of the programme during check in.
  • I have never stayed away from my dog; can I drop & pick up my dog daily during the programme?
This would be counter-productive to the concept of a Board & Train programme, as the dog will never truly settle mentally into this learning environment. For a dog, each day at the Board & Train includes constant learning; however we can only ensure consistent implementation & progress with regular practice, which is not possible if a dog is picked up daily. Hence, we do not allow pick up / drop daily with regards to a Board & Train programme.
  • What is the health eligibility my dog needs to sign up?
Your dog needs to have all routine vaccinations and kennel cough vaccination completed 2 weeks prior to be eligible for training at Mitali’s Board & Train. Deworming and Tick and Flea treatment to be done 3 days before check in.
  • My dog is 5 years old! Is it too late? Can he/she still be trained?
All dogs can be trained. All you need is the willingness to change your old habits and be consistent. However, remembering to change old habits/behaviours may require extra effort if you and your dog have been practising those habits for longer periods of time. As long as you’re willing to put in the work, we are here to help. Specific details can be further discussed during the consultation
  • I don’t live in Mumbai, how can I enrol my dog for your training programme?
If you’re living outside of Mumbai, you will have to bring your dog to our facility; first for a consultation and then for the Board & Train. You will also have to physically come to our facility for all Mid Programme Sessions where we transfer all sessions. The last session ie. Go Home Session will be held at our facility. We usualy have out of town client stay at a hotel or at a relatives house for the last 3 days, attend the sessions and then take the dog home.
  • Do you work with aggressive dogs?
Yes we do. However A clear expectations, goals, safety protocols list is worked on between us and the client before we take in any dog for training.
  • What is your Payment Policy?
A 50% deposit is required to block a slot for a Board & Train programme. The balance payment is due at least 2 weeks before the scheduled start date. Please also go through our Cancellation Policy below.
  • What is your Cancellation Policy?
For Consultations, let us know atleast 72 hours before scheduled time for a full refund. For a Board & Train programme, let us know 14 days in advance for a refund of the 50% payment. Incase you are unable to, MBT retains the payment.
  • How will my dog settle into this new environment?
There is an initial adjustment period for a dog to set into a new space, new rules and a new routine. However, the dogs start undergoing training as soon as they arrive at the facility & are mentally and physically preoccupied with learning new behaviours during their stay, which keeps them busy.
  • Can I send food for my dog on a daily basis?
All our training programmes are inclusive of food; we use fresh cooked food and kibble. If your dog has any allergies/intolerances/dietary restrictions that we can accommodate we surely will. However if they are on a prescription diet for medical reasons, you will have to bring the food for the duration of the programme during check in.
  • I miss my dog too much! Can I come visit during the training programme?
We understand how difficult it is to be away from your dog for weeks. Our goal is to make the transition from home to MBT less stressful and seamless as possible. Once the dog has settled in this new environment, visitation will only start the process once again. Hence, we do not allow visitation until the appointed time ie. Mid Programme Sessions, where owners come for the transfer of training.
  • What will my dog’s day look like, at Mitali’s Board & Train?
All dogs that come to MBT, are crate trained and sleep in their crates, in an air conditioned room. We are proud of our specialised, hands-on, one-on-one training approach, therefore we intake only a limited number of dogs at a time, as it enables us to fully devote quality time and attention to address each dog's training needs. The morning starts with a structured walk, followed by 5-6 additional training sessions peppered through the day. However, the entire day is considered “training”, and every other interaction is part of the long term goal. We do not allow free roaming or unsupervised interaction with people and dogs.
  • Who will train & work with my dog?
Your dog will be working with Mitali’s Board & Train team. This includes Mitali and all trainers, all of whom have been personally trained by Mitali. In some situations, Mitali may be involved personally, however this depends on the schedule and is not guaranteed.
  • How will the training transfer at home?
For a training programme to see success, you are involved in the training from Day 1. We will send regular updates in the form of videos/calls throughout the programme. These videos are for you and your family to study, before the Mid Programme Sessions. During the Mid Programme Sessions, we work with families to teach all aspects of the dog’s training. At the end of the programme, a routine and detailed Go Home Programme is provided as reference for all owners. The last session. ie. Go Home Session, happens in the dog's familiar environment (At Home) where the Training Team will come home to help the dog settle into the house with new rules. 😀
  • What methods do you use?
Our training methods are not limited to any one training method or ideology. Each dog is different and we do not follow a one-size fits all approach. We use a variety of training techniques and tools to achieve the best results for the dog in question.
  • What do I require to do before we drop him/her off?
    1. You will need to administer the following vaccinations: 9-1 & Anti Rabies and Kennel Cough vaccination (at least 14 days before arrival) 2. You will be required to fill out two forms - Intake form, and Medical form. This will help the Training Team immensely. 3. Ensure the entire payment is made. 4. On the day of the Check In, we only need your dog, the leash & collar and medication (if any) etc.
  • What does the “Check In Day” look like?
The day a dog arrives includes a 30 minute session, where we revisit goals and the plan of action for the programme before we take the dog in for training.
  • Once my dog has completed a training programme with MBT, what else can I do in the future?
Just like we never stop growing and learning, same applies for our dogs. We offer private sessions and boarding for all dogs that have completed the programme.
  • I am travelling for a little while, can I leave my dog with you?
Yes, absolutely; provided the training has been maintained. Boarding is also dependent on availability, therefore we can accommodate easily with more notice.
  • Will you be able to modify/work on any behaviours during Boarding?
Boarding only includes maintenance of existing training. However, we can definitely work on fine tuning any aspect of your dog's training. Eg. If you want us to fine-tune Obedience/Tricks that your dog already knows. If you require us to teach the dog something entirely new and/or work on some form of Behaviour Modification, which may include Mid Programme Sessions and some form of transfer of training, this would be considered a refresher programme/advance training programme. This is also entirely dependent on the duration the dog is with us. Eg. If your dog has developed some form of reactivity, it would be impossible to work on without a) a proper timeline & b) transition of training. Remember, Behaviour Modification is a slow process and needs daily work. Please note that charges for this will differ.
  • Do you offer day boarding for old students?
Yes. We can keep your dog for the day only. Day Boarding Charges will apply.
